Black and White 4" x 5" Sheet Film
Turning back the clock and shooting on film is a wonderful break from todays ubiquitous digital cameras, photoshop and the perfection that comes with the control we have today. What is missing at times is the authenticity of analogue photography, the ability to let go and embrace mistakes, scratch marks, dust and the cumbersome nature of the equipment. It makes one slow down and consider before committing to the image. Each press of the button is costly in terms of money and time to later develop, dry and scan. These were shot with a Horseman 4”x5” field camera at a retro motorcycle event in Townsville. Its not the sort of camera I would normally chose for the job. I’m limited to 20 images before needing to return home and load up with more sheet film in my double dark slides. Surprisingly my success rate was close to 70% - a far cry from the temptation to “spay and pray” when working in the digital world.
Hopefully I can find more time soon to shoot with the wonderful Horseman Field Camera…
